The primary NMD experiment tested ade2-1 and pre-CYH2 RNA accumulation in single and double mutants against an upf1 control. This is target-specific evidence against a detectable NMD contribution under the tested conditions. The telomere panel tested length, senescence/alternative lengthening, subtelomeric silencing and telomeric transcript abundance. It did not measure ESL1 binding to telomeric DNA or TLC1 RNA, or physical incorporation into a telomerase holoenzyme. Absence of a maintenance phenotype does not establish absence of those activities.
