Gene Description

F7A4N8 is a 174-residue protein model assigned to the horse CTDSP2 locus. Its N-terminal segment is closely conserved with human CTDSP2, but the remaining sequence does not preserve the canonical FCP1-homology phosphatase domain. The catalytic activity and physiological role of this particular protein model are unresolved; it cannot be treated as a demonstrated active CTD phosphatase.

Kinase activity is unsupported for the selected short CTDSP2 protein model. Its sequence lacks the canonical human CTDSP2 catalytic region, so neither a normal phosphatase function nor a definitive alternative catalytic verdict can be transferred from the gene symbol.

Review rationale: No kinase mechanism is supported for F7A4N8. The selected 174-residue sequence matches the N-terminal portion of human CTDSP2 but diverges before the FCP1 catalytic domain and lacks its conserved catalytic aspartates. A phosphatase-versus-kinase contradiction based only on the CTDSP2 gene name would therefore overstate the evidence for this exact input. The current sequence and domain record argue against an ordinary protein kinase but do not provide a structural or biochemical assessment sufficient to exclude every kinase activity. Resolve the protein model and inspect its structure before a definitive catalytic adjudication; no target GOA overlap exists.
