LiuC is a bacterial methylglutaconyl-CoA hydratase that converts 3-methylglutaconyl-CoA to (S)-3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA in the distal L-leucine/isovalerate catabolic pathway.
| GO Term | Evidence | Action | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| GO:0003824 catalytic activity | IEA GO_REF:0000120 | MODIFY | Summary: Catalytic activity is uninformative beside the exact hydratase term. Reason: Replace the generic catalytic term with the substrate-specific hydratase activity. Proposed replacements: methylglutaconyl-CoA hydratase activity |
| GO:0004490 methylglutaconyl-CoA hydratase activity | IEA GO_REF:0000003 | ACCEPT | Summary: Correct enzyme-specific molecular function. Reason: The exact LiuC product assignment and EC 4.2.1.18 support this activity. |
| GO:0008300 isoprenoid catabolic process | IEA GO_REF:0000118 | REMOVE | Summary: Isoprenoid catabolism is not supported for KT2440 despite related Liu chemistry in other pseudomonads. Reason: P. putida KT2440 lacks the acyclic-terpene utilization context and was experimentally unable to grow on acyclic terpenes, while retaining leucine and isovalerate utilization. Supporting Evidence: PMID:16820476 P. fluorescens, but not P. putida, could grow on acyclic terpenes |
| GO:0006552 L-leucine catabolic process | ISS PMID:16820476 Identification of genes and proteins necessary for catabolis... | NEW | Summary: LiuC occupies the hydratase position between MCC and HMG-CoA lyase in the distal pathway. Reason: The specific pathway term is absent from GOA despite the enzyme assignment and conserved ivd-mccB-liuC-mccA cluster. Supporting Evidence: PMID:16820476 while both species were able to utilize leucine and isovalerate. file:PSEPK/liuC/liuC-uniprot.txt SubName: Full=Methylglutaconyl-CoA hydratase |
